Mumbai, December 30:: The state-run PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), which plays the role of western region load dispatch centre (WRLDC), has warned that operational indiscipline coupled with the financial disorder of the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB) may lead to western region grid collapse.
The WRLDC, which took up the issue at the meeting of western regional electricity board (WREB) held on December 28 at Raipur, has sought the immediate intervention of the Madhya Pradesh government directing MPSEB to adhere to both operational/ financial discipline for "safe and secured grid operation". According to PowerGrid’s additional general manager Anjan Roy, MPSEB, whose unrestricted demand has gone up by 16 per cent to 5,700 mw from 4,800 mw with effect from mid-October with the onset of rabi season, has led to inconsistent overdrawal by the latter of 300 mw to 500 m
