Patent Law in INDIA

National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (NIIPM) is a Central Government Organization under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry engaged in conducting Training, Awareness programs on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) i.e. Patents, Designs, Trademarks & Geographical Indications. Such IPRs are considered as a barometer of R&D activities, encourages technology transfer, national / foreign direct investments & helps in technological / industrial development.

Intellectual Property mainly consists of:-

Patent (Inventions) is an exclusive right granted by the Government to the applicant for his disclosed invention of product or process which should be new, non-obvious, useful and patentable as per the patentability criteria laid down in the national law. Patent offers technical solution to a technical problem.

Designs protecting any shape, configuration, pattern, color, the creations of the appearance of industrial products.

Trade Mark is a visual symbol in the form of word, name, logo, label etc, as applied to an vendible article, with a view to indicate origin of manufacture or service or vendor in that respect and enable customers to distinguish the product of one manufacturer from the goods of the other.

It is observed that many inventors are loosing the chance of obtaining Patents for their inventions by commercially using or publishing their invention in newspapers or scientific and technical journals and such inventions are thus remain unprotected and loose their exclusive rights. Therefore, NIIPM has decided to conduct “Training on IPR” to create awareness of IPRs. Hence you are requested to depute officials from your organization.

*Please Note:-

· 75 % fee concession on actual fees, only for Students / University Research Assistants / SC / ST / PH (as already shown in schedule of training table please refer column “F”)

· 25% fee concession for group booking, only for, if more than 5 participants from same organization / educational institute take admission for the same training course

· The course fee is inclusive of Tea / coffee, Lunch, Training kit, Certificate which will be provided during the training program.

· Separate registration form shall be filled to participate in different training programs with separate fee for each programme.

· To avail student fee concession - At the time of registration for training student should provide attested copy of bonafide certificate of institute , recent photo identity card of institute & bring originals for verification on the date of training program

· To avail SC/ST/ PH fee concession - At the time of registration for training SC/ST/PH participants shouldprovide attested copy of cast certificate from competent government authority / physically handicap certificate from competent government authority mentioning the physical disability of the student & bring originalsfor verification on the date of training program

About staying arrangement

Various hotels are available at Nagpur city around 5 to 7 km from the institute in Sitabuldi area. Detailed list of hotels is available with institute.

How to Apply / Documents required for registration

1) Interested candidates may immediately apply by e-mail (niipm.ipo@nic.in, ipti-mh@nic.in orniipmnagpur@yahoo.com) & reserve the seat by mentioning training program date.

2) On plain paper or by downloading the registration form giving their details along with the requisiteRegistration Fee in the form of cash / Demand Draft, drawn in favor of “Patent Information System, Nagpur”.

3) To avail student fee concession - At the time of registration for training student should provide attested copy of bonafide certificate of institute , recent photo identity card of institute & bring originals for verification on the date of training program.

4) To avail SC/ST/ PH fee concession - At the time of registration for training SC/ST/PH participants shouldprovide attested copy of caste certificate from competent government authority / physically handicap certificate from competent government authority mentioning the physical disability of the student & bring originals for verification on the date of training program.
