ABB certified to IRIS Rail standard

IRIS certification of railway surge arresters

2008-04-11 - ABB has been awarded with the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) certification of the railway surge arrester portfolio.

The International Railway Industry Standard is a promotion of the Union of European Railway Industries (UNIFE). The standard exceeds the ISO 9001 requirements with additional railway-specific demands and eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming audits.

The IRIS certification started in 2006 and is acknowledged by all major system integrators and equipment manufacturers. It is already required by all major railway customers.

The IRIS standard has the highest demands in quality issues at present. It represents an international harmonized industry quality standard and helps to simplify lengthy procedures.
