CERTIFICATIONS RoHS/WEEE Compliance The European Union has issued directives on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS). Our circular connectors types M23, M27, and M40, as electromechanical components, even today meet the demands of the European Union standards RoHS and WEEE already, which do not take effect until July 1, 2006, and December 31, 2006, respectively. Considering the limit values, it is the goal of these standards to avoid the use of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr VI), cadmium (Cd) and brominated flame retardant systems (PBB and PBDE) in electrical and electronic devices. The image on the left shows the official logo of RoHS-WEEE compliance. It is affixed on the packing of the M23, M27, and M40 products we import from Coninvers (Germany), as electromechanical components. For your convenience, you can access the European Union's directives directly from this web site by clicking on the corresponding links below. If you have more questions concerning our RoHS and WEEE compliance, please email us at rde@rde-usa.com. CE Marking - European Conformity According to the European Commission, the CE mark cannot and must not be applied to electronic components. Rules for CE marking in accordance with the Low-Voltage Directive (Guidelines on the Application of Council Directive 73/23/EEC) state that electronic components are exempted from the scope of application of the Low-Voltage Directive. Alongside active, passive, and other electromechanical components, connectors are also specified as exempted. If a CE mark is applied to products for which CE marking is not specified or not allowed, such misuse of the CE mark may be punishable on the basis of Council Decision 93/465 of July 22, 1993. Therefore, connectors sold by rde Connectors & Cables, Inc., do not bear the CE mark. Please see the following links for further information: What is CE Marking?
