Internet an asset?

Typically you have one asset inventory list covering the complete ISMS scope with identification of owners of each asset.
I don't think you can say that "The internet" is an asset but certainly everything else that the client has which is relevant for Internet access like routers, leased lines etc.

Hi guys,
I'm in the process of supporting a company in implementing isms. I
have a problem related to the asset inventory. The company where i'm
implementing the isms have few departments. there policy related to
the asset management is that department heads are responsible in
drawing the asset inventory with respected to their departments.
however all these departments uses internet and it is very critical
service to them. Internet service is managed by the IT departments
which caters to all the departments. My question is does each and
individual department needs to recognize internet in each asset
inventory in respective department or is it enough only IT bring the
internet into IT department's asset inventory. Also in each case who
will be the asset owner.

Pls extend your support.

Thanks
