Main Events/ News · CMD, POWERGRID, the President, ClGRE India has been appointed as representative of India on Administrative council of ClGRE. This is a matter of pride not only for POWERGRID but for Power Sector as a whole.

· Raising Day of POWERGRID was celebrated on 23rd Oct., 09 in Corporate Centre. On the

Occasion, a cultural evening was organised at Siri Fort Auditorium, Delhi for the employees & their family members in which Padmashree Smt. Hema Malini, her daughters Esha & Ahana and group presented bharatnatyam and a nritya naatika named 'Parampara'.

· POWERGRID has been conferred with the prestigious 'MoU Excellence Award' consecutively for 2006-07 & 2007-08, by the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises for being the top performer in the Energy Sector. Awards were presented to CMD by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India in a ceremony held atVigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 15th Oct., 09.

· POWERGRID signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enter into a strategic alliance with the Real Estate Construction and Fabrication Company (Recafco), Kuwait as a local partner and other Gulf Co-operation Council states. MoU was signed by CMD, POWERGRID and Abdullah Saud AI-Abdul Razzak, Vice chairman of Recafco in the

presence of Sh. I.c. Jaiswal, ED(IB & ESMD), POWERGRID and Fazil Khalid AI-Abdul Razzak, General Manager and Faisal Abdul Razzak, Project Manager, Recafco.

Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Government of India, in association with United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized an international exhibition on Climate Change on October 21 -23, 2009. A conference on "Climate ChangeTechnology Development and Transfer" was also held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The exhibition was inaugurated by Sh. Pranab Mukherjee, Hon'ble Union Minister of Finance and Sh. Jairam Ramesh, Hon'ble Minister of State (lie) for Environment & Forests. POWERGRID stall was especially visited by HE, President of Maldives, Mr.

Mohamed Nasheed.

In order to achieve excellence in overall performance of the Company, and also to facilitate the Regions in timely achievement of their targets for FY 2009- 10, an internal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between CC and all the Regions, in accordance with the decisions taken during the Executive Committee Meeting held on 8th & 9th May, 2009.

· A collection of Rs. 647 crs. has been achieved during the month. This includes the current charges of Rs,448 crs. and additional Rs.199 crs. collected towards various CERC orders.

· 9 lOAs have been issued during 26 Sep., 09 to 25 Oct., 09 with a total value of Rs. 5917,49 millions

Construction

The L1l0 of 400 kV D/C Patna-Kahalgaon at Barh has been commissioned on 14.10.09 under Trans.

System associated with BARH Gen. Project.

400kV D/C Tirunelveli (PG)-Udmalpet (PG) line commissioned on 31.10.09 under Kudankulam Trans. System.

The 400 kV Bay for evacuation of Power from Mis.

lanco Power Plant on lTOA basis was succesfully Test Charged at Vijayawada Sub Station of SRTS-I on 15th October, 2009.

O&M

·

400kV Dadri-Mandola-Iline, which was running on ERS after collapse of 2 nos. towers due to heavy wind storm on 19.05.09, was restored on normal towers on 02.1 0.09.

POWERGRID has also put up ERS for quick restoration of Nagarjuna Sagar- Gooty 400 kV line which had collapsed in the floods in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.

BDD

Exhibition on climate change

POWERGRID bagged a consultancy project amounting Rs. 31.67 Crores from Orissa Power Transmission Corporation limited for expansion of its UlDC System, agreement was signed with o PTCl's official on 28.1 0.09 at Bhubaneswar.

Trainings/Workshops

· Workshop on "POWERGRID towards next orbit Innovative Strategies" was organized at MDI, Gurgaon from Oct. 21-23, 09 for EDs/GMs. The Workshop was inaugurated by CMD and all functional Directors, shared their views and concerns. Dr. Pritam Singh, Professor Emeritus and Dr. B.S. Sahay, Director, MDI also participated.

A workshop by management guru Dr. Jagdish Seth on 'Self Destructive habits of Companies and How to break them' was held for the senior management level employees of corporate centre on 27th Oct.,09.

· A residential workshop on "Rajbhasha Implementation" was organised for executives at Bhiwadi on 5th and 6th Oct., 09 and a residential programme on "Maintenance of Auxiliary System of Sub-Station" was held for executives at Bhiwadi on 12th and 13th Oct., 09.

Miscellaneous

· e-Bill Processing system has been implemented in totality in WR-I and the parallel MB/AB shall be dispensed w.e.f 01.10.2009. A comprehensive orientation program for employees, covering all offices and areas associated with bill processing was also held at RHO, Nagpuron 08.1 0.2009.

. 3rd Surveillance audit on IMS covering latest standard of OMS, EMS & OHSAS was carried out by Mis. ICS, Mumbai at Purnia, Patna S/s and RHO Patna on 8_9th Oct., 09 and continuation certificate for IMS(IS09001 :2008,IS014001 :2004 and OSHAS18001 :2007)obtained up to 28.03.201 O.

SRTS-I employees under the banner of PEWA, contributed generously for the flood affected vi Ilages of Sunkesala and Nidjur in Kurnool Distt. and lachaganilanka village of Krishna Distt of A.P.

Amount of Rs. 7.00 lakhs was collected for which 700 sets of relief kits were procured and distributed by Shri S.K.Datta, ED/SRTS-I and president of PEWA on 15th Oct., 09 at Kurnool.
