Vapi Industries Association

THE BEGINING

Vapi Industries Association came into existence in 1971. The founder President of VIA is Shri Rajjubhai D. Shroff, Chairman & Managing Director of M/s. United Phosphorus limited. Shri Suman Bhavsar as its 21st President now heads the Association. The present membership strength is around 1500 industrial units situated in Vapi GIDC Estate.

ACTIVITIES OF VIA

Vapi Industries Association, popularly known as VIA, is the most vibrant organ of the Industrial Township. As an integral part of the Notified Area Administrative Committee, VIA has been instrumental in all developmental activities that have gone into bringing up the township to what it is today.

The Association took shape in 1971 with a handful of progressive minded industrialists. Thanks to the vision and foresight of its Past Presidents, the Association is nurtured to cherish high ethical values in all spheres of its activities.

VIA renders invaluable services to its constituents in all strata of industrial activities and performs a catalytic role in implementing various policies and programs of the Government. The Association has always been successful in representing the grievances of its members with the ultimate objective of promoting and strengthening trade and commerce.

VIA has built up a Community Hall and two Conference Halls for the benefit of its members as well as the general public and operates several in-door sports facilities including Cricket, Table Tennis, Badminton, Carrom, Chess and Lawn Tennis. It also conducts various open tournaments as an annual feature of the Association.

Besides organizing on a regular basis Seminars, Symposiums, Business Meets, Human Resources Development Programs etc., the Association organizes an Industrial Exhibition once in every four years in which industries and trade from across the country participate.

VIA has set up a separate cell Vapi Emergency Control Center, to provide timely service to the industries in the event of an emergency arising out of any accidental occurrence or anything of its kind. The Center is controlled by a Committee under the Chairmanship of the District Collector, Valsad, Gujarat.

To bridge the ever-widening gap between demand and availability of trained Safety Officers employment of whom is a statutory requirement, VIA started a Government recognised Two Year Post Diploma Course in Industrial Safety with twenty five students each batch of two years. It is noteworthy that such a course is conducted only at four places in the whole of Gujarat including the one at VIA.

VIA operates an Ambulance Service - a much needed emergency service. The service is provided round-the-clock on most concessional rate. The utilization of the service has been phenomenal and widely appreciated.
A proposal for setting up a full-fledged technical and general library in the premises of the Association is on the anvil.

VIA has adopted some backward villages for development and provided
